Thanks to for picking us (well, me) as a Versatile Blogger. It was very thoughtful of her to consider me, but we do love those Aussies together. Along with Ruth I was tagged by the wickedly funny and awesome Kai at The List. Peter is the man over at and also gave the mob a nob for being all versatile, so I’ll try and not put you to sleep you with my tales.
The Rules for the Award are:
Thank the person who gave you this award (see above)
Share 7 things about yourself (see below)
Pass the award along to 15 who you have recently discovered and who you think fantastic for whatever reasons! (see way below)
Contact the blogs you picked and let them know about the award.
1. I have what is close to an unhealthy obsession with David Bowie. It began with Jareth and The Labyrinth when I was but a young girl. Truthfully I was kind of attracted to his evil darkness, but I don’t think I understood it. It’s very possible it began my long and twisted attraction to people that are slightly off and no question my adoration of men and women that can be slightly androgynous and sexually ambiguous. Besides the fact that he is a GOD of music. I could die listening to Bowie and be happy.
2. I cannot sit down and write focusing only on one thing. I always have at least five windows up and am constantly multitasking on here while also watching a movie, interacting with my youngest son, and/or doing the domestic responsibilities of a mom that tries to work, write, play, and make all the time for all the people that I love. This is why I’m a complete flake. It is simply a relief when others embrace it.
3. I’m not what one would consider a harsh reviewer. After four years of working on and off in video stores through the college years (Blockbuster, Family Video, AND Mammoth) I saw more movies than you could imagine, and since then I’ve continued to view them. I don’t want to be jaded by my movie knowledge, instead I try to find something good about each, because in some way that film was important to a lot of people who made it. Save the blasphemy of sequels and remakes, I’m sensitive to others creativity.
4. My grammar is shit. Even though I was an English/Psych major during my three year tryst in college I’ve lost all ability to properly place commas and avoid run on sentences. Sometimes I just put commas and otherwise in places just to look pretty. On the other hand I can spell words that I’ve never even heard before, so maybe the party years didn’t completely ruin me.

Yes, my sons are wearing a Batman shirt and a Star Wars shirt. Muma isn't raising any fools.
5. I may be the mother of two kids (Brosnan 7, Liam 5) but this does not mean I am a fan of family flicks, nor does my sex make me partial to romantic comedies. In fact, each are my least favorite genre. I prefer Science Fiction or a mindless Action flick any day.
6. I eventually plan on getting a Star Wars tattoo and as I already have a few tattoos and plans for many others it is the first in many movie influenced art that will potentially grace my body. What I can’t commit to is a character or dialogue. I think I just want to have “I Know” on my wrist. That sums my character up pretty well.
7. I used to hate Viggo Mortensen, and then one day I saw him in something other than A Perfect Murder and realized I love him more every second of every minute of every day. My favorite actor by leaps and bounds of this past decade. He has more talent in his pinky than most actors in their entire body. Watch Eastern Promises and try not to be blown away.

Hi Heather, thanks for doing this!
Ok, if you’re a Bowie fan, did you know he recorded a song in both English and Indonesian because he’s buddies with one of Indo’s record producer: It’s cool to hear such a famous rock star sing in my native language! ‘Jangan Susahkan Hatiku’ means ‘Don’t Break My Heart.’
YES We love the Aussies don’t we, but I also love the Brits equally. How could you hate Viggo?? But I had a similar thing with Matt Damon, until I saw Bourne Identity. He’s not my ultimate fave but I don’t mind seeing his movies now.
Oh and your kids are adorable!!

I promise you I will be doing this Ruth. It’s just hard to have so many post on the blog every week!

It took me forever as well. Don’t let the shame get you down.
Great job, Heather! See…lots of cool stuff here! Viggo is awesome. My favorite performance is in Sean Penn’s “The Indian Runner” thought you bring up “Eastern Prmises” and he rocks there too. #3 is an excellent point, in taking your movie knowledge and not letting it jade you or make you more cynical. Perhaps that is why I enjoy reading you. I need to take a chapter out of that lesson and not be such a prick at times. Good post, you versatile blogger, you!!!
Thank you thank you thank you.
Thought I’d go my whole life without getting tagged for this damned thing.
I’m a sucked for a good romcom so long as I like the chica, but SY hates them (she prefers roms and coms but never the twain shall meet).
I’ve come to realize that most of us weird bloggers are not harsh revierwers. Methinks there are too many English and Film majors and not enough Cinema Studies majors.

How could I NOT include you Ruben!
I am the same way with movie reviews which is why I don’t do them. I just love films (that would be a good name for a… nevermind).
I too am going for the Star Wars tat eventually. Working on the Avengers at present!

I don’t think of myself as a harsh reviewer myself. I mean the A’s and B’s vastly outnumbers the C’s and D’s but every now and then, I try to be harsher if that makes sense (really just picking a few terrible movies), just because you sort of lose credibility if you like or love every single movie you review!

Well, let’s not forget that we are the choosers and we definitely don’t want to choose what we won’t like.
But, I always live by the credo that unless you turn off a movie early, every movie has something to offer and some place in society. It’s just a matter of finding that place.

I am glad we (Heather) were nominated for a versatile blogger award. I am honored to be a writer/contributor dorr this site.
Yeah, for the most part it’s about buckling down and watching a few movies that you know that are gonna stink, but feel you need to have a couple of those in your repertoire.

Best thing is when sometimes, not always, but sometimes, a movie takes you by surprise. (Be Kind Rewind)
FRC Ruben recently posted..Poetry
It is kinda cool when that happens. More often than not, the movie stinks though.
I devote myself to chick flick-athons every now again, just to try and be diverse in my movie repertoire, and what usually happens is most of them are so bad that the mediocre ones seem far better than they actually are. My bad on “The Ugly Truth”, though I still think that Jennifer Garner one with Mark Ruffulo was cute, though the name escapes me.

THANK You. It was making me crazy, and guess who was too unwitting to just look it up?
13 Going on 30 is cute…with that and Alias I forgive Garner for being linked with Ben Affleck and inflicting Daredevil/Elektra from us.
A Star Wars tattoo would be amazing!
I often think I have a grasp of commas, until the suddenly creep up and turn on me again! I’m never sure if I have too many, or not enough. For an example, see current comment ;D
Thank you Roisin. I’ve learned that my subconscious enjoys extra unnecessary junk more often than I’d like.

Great facts here Heather, I need to get to work on this as soon as exams are done. I am SO with you on #2 I have about twelve tabs open at the moment, and that’s a small amount for me.

A Star Wars tatoo would be amazing. I have been watning to get a tatoo for quite some time, but have noever found the time (or money) to do what I have planned. In place of Star Wars, i’m going with LoTR. I wanna get a memorial for a couple people, and instead of a cross, I wanna get Andúril tattoo’d on my back, with several things added to it. Maybe I’ll do it when i get back from deployment. Should have a good chunk of change saved up.

The big phallic sword on your back? That is the best way to pay your love to Aragorn in crew I can think of.
And if not for the issue of money, I’d be covered in body art.

Well, i can’t get carried away quite yet. The Army still owns me, so I’m kinda limited on what I can do.
That, and I’m a big wimp who has extremely fair skin.
Red recently posted..
Ha! I’m Irish and English. I’m about as fair skinned as they come.
So THAT’S why I like you! I love the British!
I felt the same way about Jude Law as you did for Mortensen (but that was because he killed Tom Hanks in Road to Perdition).
Thanks for the tag, Heather.
Fitz recently posted..
I love Jude Law. I know he’s subject to much debate amongst movie fans, but I think he offers something dynamic and interesting to each role he plays.
I love Jude Law too. The Talented Mr. Ripley, Closer and yes Cold Mountain. He’s awesome.
And I’m a sucker for British people in general.
