A mysterious creature from another planet, resembling a giant blob of jelly, lands on earth. It’s sole purpose seems to be consuming and absorbing everything that it can grab onto. The people of a nearby small town refuse to listen to some teenagers who have witnessed the blob’s destructive power. In the meantime, the blob just keeps on getting bigger and by the time the town realizes the threat this monster imposes, it’s too late.

I like the idea of The Blob, but not so much the execution, but then again I saw the 80′s remake with Kevin Dillon so that may be my own fault haha.
Anything with Kevin Dillon should be taken with a grain of salt.
The original is less fancy, but better acted.
I have the Blob netflix sitting on my piano as we speak — unmoved for about a week now. I always end up falling asleep during Creature Features from the 50′s and 60′s.
OK, so I need a good metaphor — what does the Blob represent in Cold War society?
I would say the Blob is a metaphor for Capitalism surpassing the archaic structure of Communism.
Check the Blob out though, it’s a fast watch, but I’m with you, I get into the horror classics right away but at times it’s difficult to hold my attention.
I’ve never seen the Blob but I always wanted to. I’m sure one day I’ll get around to seeing the giant pink thing eating up everyone.
Original Blob freaked me out, dude! Love this flick…. hope Zombie comes correct with his remake!
Zombies hit or miss with me, but we’ll seee. Maybe third time is a charm.
I do believe The Blob has just shoved the 1950s The Fly to second place on my to-watch list
I saw this as a kid and it was terrifying. Kinda campy to watch as an adult but when it ozzed into the theater when I was young…. that was SCARY SHITE!!!
