I admit that occasionally I get a little fanboy-ish when it comes to comic books and especially comic book movie adaptations (I’m still waiting for my Flash movie Hollywood!). Jonah Hex happens to be one of the characters I hold dear from the comic book world, and when I heard they were going to make a film adaptation, I was curious. That was until they released almost nothing about it, outside of some set pictures. Finally, they have released the trailer for this film and by all accounts…this is going to be a disaster.
The film version of Jonah Hex looks absolutely horrible. The character divulges completely from the comic book, inventing some crazy backstory and adding all these crazy supernatural elements for the sake of being over the top. Brolin looks like he’s slumming for a paycheck and Megan Fox…well, she’s poison to anyone who wants to watch some actual decent acting. Malkovich is playing the villain though, and that does still intrigue me, but not only do I think this looks bad as a Hex fan…it looks like a brainless crappy action movie as a film nerd.
If you love trainwrecks, or don’t have the fanboy love I do for the character, Jonah Hex will be hitting theaters to no fanfare June 18, 2010, but remember…the studio didn’t bother to put any marketing behind it until now, so that’s got to say something about the quality.
I think perhaps a new category is needed, MOB TO BE AVOIDED……this looks awful……in the worst way…….
Agreed. I felt awkward putting “Mob Approved” and then posting this travesty, but oh well here we are.
ha! You are right Jonathan. We should make a banner for trailers that look awful as well. We could call the feature, “Swimming with the fishes”.
Lemme know what you think or if you have any suggestions and I’ll get to work on it for us.
i’m not that impressed by this trailer as well. Seems like a paycheck job for all of these actors. One the positive side, it’s nice to see Lance Reddick getting more work. The Wire is the greatest thing to ever grace television.
That……. looked……. horrible!!!
We can use it to scare adults and small children with.
Yep. Not even in a “so bad it’s good” way. Seriously, is CGI so expensive that Josh Brolin have to float to Washington on what may as well be a polygon?
If Stargate can rock decent CGI, it’s simply lazy that feature films can’t be more creative with their budgets.
Michael Fassbender looks out of his mind in this – I CAN’T WAIT.
Terrific work! This is the kind of information that should be shared close to the web. Shame on the search engines for not positioning this post higher!
