It’s a shame. He was in a good prison movie that went straight to DVD.

Yeah, I’ve never seen Felon, I’ve been meaning to check it out for a while.

He became pregnant and became the Octomom.

He still hold tremendous ill will for not being nominated for an Oscar for his brilliant portrayal of Jim Morrison…scary good. Horrible Oscar faux pas. And he is letting it out on all of society—movie bloggers beware!

Or a nomination for “Tombstone”…great, great, great performances! “The Doors” is a tour-de-force performance – he still did an incredible job in “The Bad Lieutenant: Port of Call – New Orleans”.

I’m in agreement, not seeing this in theaters.

I’m wholly on the fence. I never liked the skit, but who knows, plus I trust Jonathan’s advisement pretty well, and if he liked it, I certainly feel more enticed to giving it a second thought.

      • The movie is NOTHING like the skits whatsoever. It’s darker and way cruder.

Since you’re fencing this one, wait for DVD/Netflix. Since it’s made little money, I expect it to be on Watch Instantly by the end of the year.

    • If you are on the fence or don’t care, then DVD is probably the best option. Humor is subjective, and in turn, it’s hard to really be able to recommend something. One person’s poop joke is another person’s agony and all that.

The trailer had me expecting something totally worse. Still, I’m going to need to give this one a try.

Can’t say I’m surprised. I didn’t think the trailer was all that funny and the cast is relatively “meh” in my book. It will be a decent rent for me :) Good review chief!

    • Ha thank you! Low expectations are a wonderful thing, my friend.

  5. Ah, another flick that can wait for a bargin bin DVD release. SNL should stop making the skits into flicks even if I could probably find a lot of laughs in this one.

    • I see the issue making skits into movies. When they work, they work really well and some of my favorite movies come from SNL-related skits. Still, after watching It’s Pat, I see your point.

Excellent write-up! I will surely see it, but think I will wait for rental. With all the wonderfully creative movies like Sex and the City coming out, I really can’t fit this one in. HA!

    • Why waste your money on this when Jake Griuerwsdfsdfhall is gonna kick some CGI people in the face and Sarah Jessica Parker is going to roundhouse kick feminism right in the teeth? :-P

  7. I don’t think I’d be least interested in seeing this one, but (and I know many disagree) I wish Ryan Phillippe would get more work. I know he’s not the most talented person out there but every now and then he shows such promise (particularly Gosford Park) I don’t think this is the best way for him to go, though.

Honestly, this turned out far, far better than anyone could have expected for a movie based on a terrible skit that originates from contemporary SNL. The sketch isn’t funny in the slightest; it feels totally irrelevant, for one, and it’s never more than a notch above being purely lethargic. But there’s a lot injected here by the cast and the writers, who know that they can do so much more in the realm of cinema, and it mostly ends up working. I may never watch a sex scene the same way again.

Kilmer, I think, gets little respect for being really damn funny. Kiss Kiss, Bang Bang and Top Secret should be required viewing for a window into how hilarious he can be.

I love Kilmer. I get behind Kilmer if he’s going to do anything.

I’ve been hearing people say the same as you Andrew. I still haven’t been talked out of waiting till DVD, but at least now I’m hopeful about it. I never liked the sketch myself.
