Mark Wahlberg was offered the lead role in the upcoming reboot for The Crow a few months back. He has decided to officially turn down the part. Wahlberg did a recent interview with Cinematical and had the following to say,
We never committed to making the movie. They talked to me about it and there was a director attached who I was a fan of, and he’s no longer doing it. We just thought about it – ‘is there something cool to be done there?’ But we’re not committed to making the movie.
Originally, Stephen Norrington had signed on to direct the reboot, but has since left the project. That departure is what ended up throwing everything off. When this was announced, fans of the original film were up in arms and not excited about the film or Wahlberg in the role. Even though the reboot looks stalled at this time, it will find it’s legs and eventually get made. First thing is for the studio to hire a new director.
